So long blue sparkles!

Toothpaste doesn’t have to be blue and sparkly!

Conventional toothpaste has everything but the “bathroom sink” in it, including known carcinogens, hormone disrupters and some even contain the toxic pesticide, Triclosan.

Making toothpaste at home is super easy. Finley’s Dad, Ike starts everyday brushing with good old Baking Soda. You can start there or experiment with your very own secret recipe by adding coconut oil, Xylitol, clay, rosemary, mint or many other natural ingredients. Here is an easy guide.

Some good store bought options include Dr. Brite, Tom’s of Maine and Arganat. You’ll find these and more on the Environmental Working Group website with complete accounting of the companies’ manufacturing processes, ingredient sourcing and packaging impact.

By “greening” our toothpaste, we can keep toxic chemicals out of our bodies and our water systems.
